With the exception of payroll services, and possibly the purchase of a building (depending on various factors), inventory is usually the next most expensive single component in pharmacy.

In today’s market, inventory costs are becoming a grave concern amongst owners, with the increased utilization of brand names and the costs of several brand names are on the rise, at an average.

Pharmacists are being dealt a rough hand: keep purchasing the inventory and praying to receive proper reimbursement to cover all costs or begin turning away family, neighbors and friends who have come into the pharmacy for decades.  Otherwise, cutting staff and operating the store at a less safe component in an effort to pay for medications.
